And each year we receive dozens of donated hearing aids, old stock from hearing aid companies, or good ex-demo models.
For the last seven years, during November and December we have matched the supply to clients. Some people may otherwise never experience the benefits of hearing aids. The aids and fitting service are free, but not the on-going costs for batteries, accessories and maintenance.
This year, a hearing-impaired prison inmate from Invercargill was among several people who received our help. The person didn't qualify for ACC or Ministry of Health funding, but needed better hearing to help with their rehabilitation prior to release.
