Clinical excellence is a winner for Anna
Every year, to support the profession in New Zealand, Audiology South sponsors a $2500 prize for the best performing student from year 1 in the Master of Audiology programme at the University of Canterbury. This year’s Audiology South Prize for Clinical Excellence was awarded to Anna Liu.

Originally from China, Anna moved to New Zealand eight years ago, initially working as a preschool teacher before she chose to study to be an audiologist.
“Both careers align with my vision of changing lives for the better, but as an audiologist I will have the privilege of seeing more immediate change. I think my personality, strengths, and interests are well-suited for audiology, and it’s an exciting and expanding field,” Anna says.
Most of Anna’s spare time is devoted to her family — her husband and their two preschool-aged daughters.
“We enjoy going for walks, visiting the beach, and exploring different family-friendly activities. Additionally, I like to sing, play badminton, and travel,” she says.
