Keeping up with technology

Audiology South keeps up with hearing technology developments.

Posted Wednesday November 27, 2019

Simon Melville recently spent two days immersed in Widex technology. “At Audiology South we’re committed to keeping up with developments in hearing technology so we can advise clients on the best devices to suit their individual needs.

“We wore Widex hearing aids throughout the meeting and activities, so truly ‘walked the walk’ of our clients. We experienced how to adjust them to get great sound and performance, and explored the Evoke platform, which can be fine-tuned by users as they wear them, creating personal programmes and settings separate to those a clinician has set up.

“Widex hearing aids particularly appeal to music lovers and those with a discerning palate of sound quality. I quickly adapted to wearing them, so much so that I missed them when I look them out. I experimented with the iPhone app, streamed phone calls and even wore them to the gym so I could listen to streamed music.

Delegates also experienced a visit to Random International’s art installation Rain Room at the Jackalope Pavilion. “We wore our hearing aids in the room, but don’t worry, sensors detect where you stand so you don’t get saturated. The sound and visual effects of the strong downpour all around you is amazing,” Simon says.
