Simon Melville
Director / Senior Audiologist, Queenstown

more about Simon

In 2014, Simon Melville joined Audiology South as a senior audiologist, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge in both the clinical and managerial aspects of audiology. Originally trained in Auckland, Simon ran Bay Audiology in the South Island before entering senior management for the Bay Audiology group. His patients benefit from his experience both in NZ and abroad, where he has developed in-depth knowledge in diagnosing and managing hearing loss, tinnitus treatment, and cochlear implantation. Simon lives on a lifestyle block just out of Arrowtown and enjoys keeping active year-round with summer and winter sports.

Anthony Rowcroft
Director / Senior Audiologist, Dunedin

Anthony followed his father and grandfather into Audiology, originally taking on the family business at Dunedin Hearing Clinic. After working with Simon Melville at Bay Audiology, the two combined their skills and experience within the only independent Audiology practice in the South. Since 1999, Anthony has been a full member of the New Zealand Audiological Society (NZAS) and previously served on several committees within NZAS. As a senior audiologist, Anthony brings a broad knowledge base across all aspects of hearing and hearing aid technology with a particular interest in tinnitus management. Anthony still lives in Dunedin, and when he’s not in the clinic, or with the family, he’ll be out training for a multi-sport event.

Anne McElwain
Senior Audiologist, Dunedin

Anne recently joined Audiology South as a Senior Audiologist in the Dunedin clinic. Having grown up in Central Otago, she completed a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Massey University before starting as a Trainee Audiologist at Dunedin Hospital in 1980. By 1983, Anne had gained a Master’s Degree in Audiology and Speech Science from Purdue University (USA). She has since worked in many locations overseas and around NZ, in both public hospitals and private clinics. Anne is now well settled on a small lifestyle block in North Taieri!

Bryan Forde
Senior Audiologist, Invercargill

You’ll find Bryan in our Invercargill practice on Thursdays and Fridays. Having worked in both public and private settings around NZ, Bryan has a breadth of expertise in diagnostic and hearing aid fitting. Like Simon, Bryan is a full member of the NZ Audiological Society. He can assist with all you ear health needs and support you with third-party funding applications from ACC, Accessible NZ, Veterans Affair, and WINZ. Bryan lives in Invercargill, where he is very involved with the local Maori Iwi. On a fair day with fine winds, you’ll find Bryan out sailing and enjoying the great outdoors.

Hannah Teviotdale
Senior Audiologist, Mosgiel

Originally from Christchurch, Hannah completed her Master’s degree in Audiology back in 2007. She is a full member of the New Zealand Audiological Society and has a particular interest in hearing aid technology and tinnitus management. After completing her studies, Hannah initially worked in Auckland at both paediatric and adult audiology clinics before heading overseas. In London, Hannah spent two years at Harley Street Hearing, a private clinic that specialises in adult hearing assessments, hearing services for musicians, and balance/dizziness assessments. In 2012, Hannah and her partner moved back to New Zealand and they now live in Mosgiel with their two boys.

Deborah Beck
Senior Audiometrist, Invercargill

Fresh from 20+ years working at the Audiology Department in Southland Hospital, Deb holds a wealth of experience and knowledge. She brings a passion and drive to get the best result for each and every client she sees. With all her experience nothing is too tricky for Deb! She lives on a lifestyle block on the outskirts of Invercargill and, when she’s not at work, she’s often out tending to her extensive garden.

Mairead Fox
Ear Nurse, Dunedin

On Mondays and Thursdays, Mairead works at Audiology South in Dunedin as our dedicated Ear Nurse. She provides ear wax removal, advice on ear hygiene, and performs basic hearing checks. On her other days she works as a practice nurse in a busy Mosgiel GP clinic. Mairead grew up in rural South Canterbury and has been living in Dunedin since 2008. Talented in many sports, Mairead’s real claim to fame is being New Zealand’s gumboot throwing champion in 2015!

Alison Hanrahan
Client Care Manager, Queenstown

Ali looks after our Queenstown & Te Anau clinics. She can help you troubleshoot any issues with hearing aids over the phone. She’s also very proficient at any small hearing aid repairs required in a clinic. Originally from the UK, Allison has been living in Queenstown for over a decade. Outside of work, Ali enjoys exploring all the Queenstown area has to offer with her husband and two school-aged children.

Brenda Stuart
Office Manager, Dunedin

In 2016, Brenda supported Anthony in establishing Audiology South’s clinic in Dunedin. She’s been working in Audiology admin for many years and is our ‘go-to-girl’. Originally from the Manawatu, Brenda is now a strong advocate of the South and all its attractions! Brenda works alongside our front-line team, who are all well-versed in hearing aid repairs and happy to help answer any queries you may have.

Paula Duncan
Office Support, Dunedin

With experience in hearing and health sector admin, Paula joined the Dunedin team in a part-time admin support role. Her hours have gradually increased as the clinic’s patient base has grown in number. Paula is a car enthusiast and particularly passionate about her blue Mini Cooper with the white racing stripe! If you call our Dunedin clinic for phone support, chances are you’ll hear Paula’s voice!

Kate is the epitome of efficiency. She spends many hours each day to ensure our papers are in order and is on hand to help with any admin or finance questions you may have. Kate is based on a lifestyle block on the outskirts Invercargill.

Julie Hamlyn

Julie has worked on the frontline in Audiology clinics for a number of years and is a whizz at over the counter repairs! Based in our Mosgiel clinic, Julie is well entrenched in the Taieri community and enjoys getting to know everyone who walks through the door. She spends much of her free time caring for and riding her horse – Titan!

Kay Hughes
Office Support

Kay is an all-round administrative support person. If you have a repair or hearing aid order, she’ll make sure it’s sorted for you. She lives on the outskirts of Invercargill on a working farm. Before work, Kay will be up and busy on the farm, she’s always on the go!

Catherine Peters
Office Support

Catherine is our longest serving staff member and all-round admin support guru. She’s responsible for the organisation of our ENT clinics. Catherine is well-versed in hearing aid repairs – if you have a problem, she’ll have it fixed pronto. An avid cyclist, Catherine lives in Invercargill and enjoys exploring Southland on her bike.
